PennDOT has announced details on the next “Superload” trip from Armstrong County to the Homer City Generating Site.
While dates are subject to change, the anticipated travel dates for the third run of oversized and heavy equipment is scheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday. The route is expected to follow the same route as the last two runs, starting at the Armstrong Terminal in Schenley to Route 66 through Leechburg and Apollo to Delmont then to Route 22, where it will pull off near the Westmoreland-Indiana county line to install additional equipment at 5:00 PM. It will pick up at 7:00 and head towards Blairsville and stop for the night. On Thursday, travel will resume at 9:00 AM headed towards Campbells Mill Road to Blacklick Road to the energy campus in Center Township.
Similar traffic restrictions and road closures will be in effect as the convoy makes its trip. Drivers should remain alert for this slow-moving, two-lane operation, which will travel approximately 10 – 25 miles per hour, or slower as needed, and use alternate routes when possible.
