A preliminary hearing is scheduled today for a man charged with delivering drugs that resulted in the death of a man in Center Township.
Court documents show that 52-year-old James Emanuel Emmerson of Indiana faces charges of drug delivery resulting in death, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and criminal use of a communications facility related to the death of 23-year-old Chad Stineman of Coral. Police were called out on February 4th of 2022 around 1:35 PM to assist EMT’s with a possible drug overdose at a home along Locust Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Following an autopsy conducted at ForensicDX, Windber, PA, the cause of death was determined to be multiple drug toxicity. Toxicology testing also revealed the presence of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and xylazine.
Stamp bags seized from the scene of the incident were later analyzed at the Pennsylvania State Police Greensburg Regional Laboratory and were found to contain fentanyl and xylazine.
Since his arrest, Emmerson has been in Indiana County Jail in lieu of $150,000 cash bail. The hearing will be held at 1:15 this afternoon in front of District Judge Suzanne Steffee.
