Country music star Kacey Musgraves is wading into the controversy over the removal of an iconic downtown Dallas mural ahead of the World Cup.
A conservationist artist known as Wyland is disputing the claim that he gave his permission for his massive Whaling Wall mural to be painted over. The nearly 30-year-old painting titled Ocean Life was recently obliterated and is being replaced with a FIFA World Cup mural. Musgraves called attention to the mural’s plight on social media, writing “This makes me really sad. We suck the soul out of everything.”
Wyland says the claim that Dallas and FIFA asked for his permission is “a lie with a capital L.”
